The Illinois Naprapathic Association was incorporated in Illinois on November 25th, 1935 and was formed as an Illinois chapter of
the American Naprapathic Association, Inc.
The association is one of the oldest professional association of Naprapaths in the state of Illinois and the oldest state association of Naprapaths in the USA.
The Mission of this Professional Association, the I.N.A. is to protect, and promote, and educate all Illinois Naprapaths.
The Mission of the I.N.A. is to protect, promote, and educate the Naprapaths of Illinois. We are the oldest, and only State Association of Naprapaths in Illinois, and we are committed to helping you grow your business and improve your educational goals. We desire to make you successful and to facilitate avenues to increase your income and skills as Naprapathic Doctors.
Naprapathy was founded by Dr. Oakley Smith, D.N. in 1905.
November 16th, 1905 at 11:45 p.m. - Dr. Smith discovered, through extensive anatomical research, that fibrous, or dense connective tissues (ligaments, tendons, and muscles) when damaged or over-used, led to a rigid, scar-like condition in the body that often interfered with and aggravated closely aligned nerves. Thus, the discovery of the "Ligatite" which constituted the beginning point of the "Profession of Naprapathy."
The first school of Naprapathy was formed in 1907, in Chicago, Illinois. There, Dr. Oakley Smith taught and trained men and women to become Doctors of Naprapathy and he developed the, "Science of Naprapathy."
Dr. Smith invented a method called “Chartology”to record the tension findings Naprapaths found in patient’s spines and subsequent treatment protocols given during treatment. He had letters of Patents from the U.S. Government on these methods. This was a breakthrough in the science of diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Prior to his invention no healing profession had any method for recording what their fingers felt.
These soft tissue, manual manipulation techniques were developed for specific connective tissue imbalances, and scar tissue formations on tendons, ligaments and muscles, and are used to correct imbalances and to help the body to heal itself. Some of the most common connective tissue disorders that have been successfully treated by Naprapathic Medicine include:
Annual dues are $200.00 per year, $300.00 for married couples. We will have multiple Continuing Education programs for you to go to at no additional cost. There will be a minimum of 2-4 seminars per year at Naprapaths private offices, where hands on technique, and practice management will be taught. Only INA members will be able to receive this training for Free other non members pay a fee . INA members will receive 15 Continuing Education Credits per year.
